February saw the announcement of the QS World University Rankings 2019, with the top 1000 universities in the world ranked for the 15th year in a row. For Les Roches, it was another year of outstanding recognition, as the school moved up three places to third in the world for Hospitality and Leisure Management, and maintained its top three ranking for Employer Reputation.
The QS World University Rankings offer the most comprehensive guide to the very best universities in the world, with over 83,000 academics, more than 43,000 employers and 13 million papers contributing to the results. In total, more than 4,700 institutions were assessed, with the top 1011 ranked, 52 more than in 2018. All universities are evaluated on six metrics:
– Academic Reputation
– Employer Reputation
– Faculty/Student Ratio
– Citations per faculty
– International Faculty Ratio
– International Student Ratio
Each institution receives a score out of 100 for each metric, with the highest total score creating the overall QS ranking.
The rise to third in the world for Hospitality and Leisure Management is testament to the ever-increasing reputation of Les Roches, both academically and amongst employers. The ranking also demonstrates the industry-impact that Les Roches faculty and students are making, through their papers and published work.
The unique combination of in-depth theoretical lessons, real-world exposure and multiple internships offered by Les Roches, has produced an alumni of leaders and entrepreneurs that are redefining hospitality. In total, QS evaluated institutions across 48 different subjects, with 78 different countries appearing in this year’s results.
Les Roches maintained its top three world ranking for Employer Reputation in Hospitality and Leisure Management. The Employer Reputation ranking is based on the QS Employer Survey, the largest survey of its kind in the world, comprised of over 40,000 responses.
In the survey, employers are asked to identify where they go to find the best graduates. The success of alumni is also assessed, looking at more than 30,000 of the world’s most talented and high-achieving, and/or philanthropic individuals to establish which institutions are producing leaders of the world.
In addition to student ability and success, the survey also looks at the number of partnerships with employers per faculty, employer/student connections on-campus, internships and graduate employment rate metrics. With over 300 campus visits from employers every year, an average of three internship opportunities per student, and 88% of students employed or considering multiple offers on graduation day, the top three ranking clearly highlights the career benefits of studying at Les Roches.
