Winners will receive 50% of the total value of tuition plus airfare
Mexico, D.F. February 20, 2012 – The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico – SECTUR and Les Roches International School of Hotel Management and Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School launched a scholarship program for Mexican professionals who wish to pursue graduate studies in hotel management in Australia, China, Spain and Switzerland. The scholarship program was launched today at the offices of SECTUR with the presence of the Minister of Tourism of Mexico, Dr. Gloria R. Manzo Guevara and Fabienne Rollandin, Director of Industry Relations of Les Roches. A total of four (4) scholarships for 50% of the total tuition cost will be awarded to winners, plus air tickets to and from the host country of the university where students will be admitted.
Les Roches International School of Management is one of the most prestigious hospitality management universities in the world. Headquartered in Switzerland, the university also operates in Marbella – Spain and in Shanghai – China and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School is ranked as the first university in hotel management in Australasia and has campuses in Leura and Sydney in Australia. Both universities combine a strong academic program in management with internship opportunities and practical training in the best hotel groups in their host countries and around the world.
“The travel and tourism industry of Mexico accounted for 9% of GDP and generated 7.5 million direct and indirect jobs in 2011,” said Dr. Manzo Guevara. “It is the responsibility of the state to promote the competitiveness of this important sector of the economy and the agreement we signed today with Les Roches and Blue Mountains, two of the world’s most prestigious universities in hospitality management education, provides an opportunity to Mexicans to train and bring back the country best practices and innovative ideas for further grow the quality of the national tourism industry for the benefit of the country’s economic growth”.
Applications for the scholarships opened today and the winners will be announced on April 23, 2012. In addition to the admission requirements by each of the universities, interested parties must comply with the conditions and documents referred to in the document call for scholarships. A selection committee composed of three public servants from the Ministry of Tourism, a public servant of the Tourism Board, two professors and a representative of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, will select the winners.
