Les Roches’ Follow-Me Program introduces prospective students to hospitality careers with Shangri-La presentation.

The first Follow-Me day took place on March 4th and gave high school students the chance to experience the passion and excitement of the hospitality industry with Student Ambassador guides.

On Monday, March 4th, high school students from the Brillamont International School in Lausanne attended the first Follow-Me Program day.  Happening every Monday in the month of March 2013, the Follow-Me Program is designed to introduce prospective students to the world of hospitality and life at Les Roches as they follow a student ambassador during a typical day on campus.

Company Presentation by Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts

It was great luck that the students were visiting on the same day as Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts who were on campus to share news about their company and recruit Les Roches students for their Corporate Trainee program.  During the presentation, a Les Roches alumnus of 2012 was connected by Skype and was eager to share his experience in the Corporate Trainee program at Shangri-La. This testimonial inspired the prospective students and allowed them to see that Les Roches could make this opportunity available to them one day.

Attending Classes at Les Roches

For this first Follow-Me Program day, the guests were invited to attend three classes of the Bachelor of Business Administration in International Hotel Management: 'People, Conflict and Negotiation', 'Revenue and Pricing Management' and 'Modelling for Management'. These upper-level hospitality courses gave the students insight into the business competencies that a hospitality career requires.

"We found the classes during the follow me program really interesting, and we could really see the passion that the students and faculty have for the school and hospitality!" said Anastasia and Andrey, the Follow-Me students.

Spending Time with Students

There were 3 Student Ambassadors who guided the guests throughout the day and had lunch with them. These students were happy to share their experiences with the prospective students, answering their questions and talking openly and honestly about their time at Les Roches. The students also met a current LR student who used to attend their high school.

At the end of the day, the prospective students were greatly impressed and told an Education counsellor of Les Roches that it had been the perfect day for them. The most important thing that they took away was the amazing passion which they felt the students and faculty shared for the school and hospitality.

Hopefully we will see them on the Les Roches campus in the future!
