Les Roches graduate named Millennium Arabian Travel Market apprentice winner

Maria Del Carmen Garcia Pena, a graduate of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, was declared winner of the inaugural Arabian Travel Market (ATM) apprentice program.

The ATM Apprentice was launched as a new initiative by hotel group Millennium & Copthorne Middle East, at the Arabian Travel Market, the leading travel exhibition for the Middle East Region that took place in Dubai from 2-5 May 2011.

Under this, winner Maria Del Carmen Garcia Pena gets a unique, fast-track career opportunity within Millennium & Copthorne hotel chain which owns, asset manages and operates over 120 hotels in 19 countries around the world.

The Les Roches graduate, a Mexican national, will be employed within the coveted management trainee role, starting at Millennium & Copthorne from August in the new Millennium Plaza, Dubai which opens in September.

‘As a future graduate of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, I am eager and prepared to commence my career’, said an excited Maria Del Carmen Garcia Pena, who will graduate in June 2011.

In extending her knowledge of the Millennium & Copthorne hotel chain, she will rotate across the group’s various divisions and also its different properties across the region.

To participate in the ATM apprentice program, candidates submitted written applications via the Apprentice website, with the best of these entered into the second stage which involved completing various assessments.

These judged performance across a variety of scenarios within the ATM Apprentice’s human resources and sales and marketing categories, including management of workplace conflict, innovative thinking and creativity.

Maria Del Carmen Garcia Pena is one of the almost 1’400 students of almost 100 different nationalities of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Bluche, Switzerland. In a global survey of 5-star hotel hiring managers executed by Taylor Nelson and Sofres, Les Roches was ranked tied at number 2 among all international hospitality management schools for an international career.
