Pre-Arrival Information
Registration and Arrival
As a newly admitted student, you should read the official documentation provided by the Admissions Department in your acceptance package. The Pre-Arrival Booklet (see right) provides you with all the necessary information about preparing yourself for your studies in Les Roches. This section of our website provides some general information and links to the more detailed documents that admitted students should read and process before they arrive on campus.
- Visa Requirements
- Residence Permit
- Health and Accident Insurance
- Arrival & Pick-up
Visa Requirements
Some students will require a student visa to enter Switzerland, so please verify visa requirements for your nationality and apply at the right time.
To see if you need a visa to study in Switzerland, please visit the official Swiss website.
For the visa application procedure and required documents, download this full-length guide.
Please note that it may take anywhere from 4-12 weeks to obtain a visa. If you have received an acceptance, you should apply for your visa as soon as possible and speak with an Educational Counselor if you have any questions about the procedure.
Residence Permit
All students, except Swiss nationals and C-Permit holders, will be required to apply for a residence permit within 48 hours of arriving in Switzerland. To complete this procedure, students must bring a copy of the documents submitted for the application (see the Residence Permit Process).
All students (including Swiss/C-Permit holders) should read the Residence Permit Process.
Health and Accident Insurance
All people residing in Switzerland are required to have valid health and accident insurance. Students will automatically be placed on the school’s health insurance if no valid proof of personal insurance is presented before arrival. There are two ways that a student can validate personal insurance:
- Students who have the blue European health insurance card with the EU logo can send a copy (front and back) to Admissions.
- Students who do not have a European health insurance card, but who believe they have the equivalent, can download the Check form for the Equivalent of Swiss Health Insurance (OCC form). This form must be completed by the health insurance company, stamped and sent back to Admissions.
For more information, please download our guide to health and accident insurance, click here.
Arrival and Pick-Up
On the Acceptance Letter, you will find the official arrival days for your particular program of study. During these official arrival days, Les Roches has a Welcome Booth in Geneva Airport where a team transfers students and their luggage to the campus. For more details about arrivals and registration, please download the Pre-Arrival Information guide.
Please complete the Arrival Confirmation Form before July 15th (for summer intake) / December 15th (for winter intake) and send it by fax (+41 21 989 26 78) or send by email to arrivals@lesroches-admissions.com.
English Language Assessment
All students are required to present evidence of English proficiency unless they are native English speakers or have three years of full-time, English-taught education.
Students who cannot provide a recognized English Language Certificate must sit an English exam (BULATS) at their own charge.
See the English Language Assessment documentation for more details.
