HO1 and English Enhancement Program
Les Roches International School of Hotel Management is now offering a preparatory program that combines intensive English language courses with the Hotel Operations (HO1) courses of the Hotel Management Diploma program.
Program Title: HO1 and English Enhancement Program
Duration: 1.5 years
Semesters: HO 1A (6 months) and HO 1B (6 months)
Internship: 6 months in an English speaking country
Start Date: February / July
English level: Minimum 400 TOEFL or 4.0 IELTS for HO 1A
Minimum 450 TOEFL or 4.5 IELTS for HO 1B
Education: Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Program Objective:
The objective of this program is to improve students with relevant English language skills including: comprehension, listening, writing and speaking as well as providing an introduction to hospitality through classes and craft-based learning (HO I) in order to bring their English to the required TOEFL 550 (IELTS 5.5) equivalent by the time they start semester 4.
Program Sequence:
This special program is divided into 2 semesters called HO 1A and HO 1B. Students will follow these 2 semesters back to back and then go on their first internship, preferably in an English speaking country. Upon successful completion of the HO 1A and HO1B semester and English tests the student will join the rest of the undergraduate Hotel Management Diploma, or Bachelor degree program from HO II onward.

After 3 years of study, students will receive the Hotel Management Diploma. Students who wish to continue their studies to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) will require 1 additional year of studies, totaling 4 years of study.
Comparison with standard Hotel Management Diploma program / Bachelor Degree :

English Admissions Criteria:
To enter this program, candidates must have a minimum of TOEFL 400 points (IELTS 4.0) or equivalent, minimum 18 years of age, holding a high school diploma or equivalent.
This program will allow students to gain TOEFL 50 points (IELTS 0.5 points) per semester. Therefore, the English level improvement is expected to progress as follows:
- Semester 1: HO 1A from TOEFL 400 to TOEFL 450 (or equivalent)
- Semester 2: HO 1B from TOEFL 450 to TOEFL 500 (or equivalent)
- Semester 3: Internship
- Semester 4: HO II TOEFL 550 or equivalent

Progression from HO 1A to HO 1B:
At the end of the first semester, there will be progression tests in all the English subjects as well as in hospitality subjects (practical). Passing will be the requirement to progress.
