Experience
I have many years of teaching experience in adult professional and vocational education and training and before coming to Switzerland have taught in Germany, and Scotland, with teaching and educational development secondments to Finland and Oman.

Before coming to Les Roches I was the manager of the Language School at a public university college in Scotland with responsibilities for managing and developing all language teaching in the curriculum as well as other external training in the business community.  This included designing and delivering tailored training to employees at tourist attractions and hospitality industry workers.

I was seconded to Muscat, Oman as ELT adviser / consultant to colleagues and management for the start up of a new vocational college where instruction was only in English.

Prior to that I was involved in projects and development within the Faculty of Arts, and as part of a European Union funded ERASMUS project, I participated in a teacher exchange with the University of Helsinki and an adult vocational training institute in Finland.  I also worked in the Curriculum Support Unit, as editor working with colleagues from subjects across the curriculum in the design and development of learning materials for use in various flexible delivery modes (distance learning, drop-in open access centres, and early forms of blended learning) as well as tailored courses for companies.

For four years I worked for a private adult training organisation in Germany. This work included preparing students for Chamber of Commerce exams and teaching in- company English language courses, as well as courses in business English, translation (English / German), and introduction to commerce.  I was also a peer trainer and a consultant for individualised language training solutions.

During my teaching career I have taught Communication Skills for many years, Personal and Professional Development courses, Academic Writing and study skills, Cultural Awareness, Ethics in our contemporary world, all aspects of English language at all levels, German language classes.

Before entering the world of education, I worked for several years as an executive administrator and in Human Resources, responsible for recruiting and hiring employees and a variety of staffing matters.
